Ugly time in New Orleans....

The pics below are a rainfall estimate for a 24 hr period ending this morning and secondly the current radar signature.   There is a lot more rain coming.  I've also read some news reports that the storm surge has gone over a levee in a disctrict.

A few maps...

Inches of rain are forecast in the heart of the American midwest drought over the next five days.   The orange blob at the bottom right is the precip from Isaac.

Warming up and staying warm for a while.

Speaking of Isaac, here is the current NHC track of Isaac:
Interestingly enough, the Euro is slower, stronger and more west with Isaac, smacking East Texas and Louisiana with it.

Bad news for the Caribbean islands.  The Atlantic hurricane season is ramping up right on schedule.  Batten down the hatches, it's going to be a wet and bumpy ride.

British Wind and German Windbags

There is a report on wind power generation capacity in Great Britain.   Unfortunately for the greenies, it sucks rather than blows.

German politicians are talking out of their you-know-whats(RPJ has the story).   They need to get their head out of their you-know-whats and wake up to reality.

Past and future

The last 30 days has been wet in Ontario, primarily coming in the last week or two:
It looks like the wetter than normal pattern will continue for a while.   A cold front on Friday will give us a period of cooler than normal temps for a few days.

Corn and Ethanol cont.

An article in the Wall Street Journal continues the discussion.
As a sidebar, AGW has only affected corn yields only in a positive manner.   This year's issues are primarily due to lack of rain, not temperature.

Corn and ethanol

Wonder why food and gas prices are still going up?? Corn being used for ethanol additives to gasoline. 40% of the US corn crop is used for ethanol production.   Imagine if that land was used for food production?   Both gasoline and food would be cheaper.   Remember, ethanol additives are done all in the name of Global Warming, err Climate Change, err Climate Disruption...

RPJ has a great analysis.   The killer graph though is this one:
